Prevent Duty Awareness

All schools, and childcare providers are subject to a duty under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent Duty.

About this subject area

All school and childcare staff should have Prevent duty training, which teaches them how to spot the signs that a child or young person may be at risk of radicalisation – religious or political – and what to do if they suspect this is the case for child or young person.

Our qualifications widen this knowledge to include young people in education themselves, building learner’s resilience to radicalisation by promoting fundamental British values and enabling them to safely challenge extremist views.
