Youth Work

Youth Work qualifications help learners prepare to work or volunteer with young people aged 11-25, through non-formal educational activities incorporating enjoyment, challenge and learning.

About this subject area

Our Youth Work Practice qualifications have been designed in partnership with the National Youth Agency and a working group of Awarding Organisations to reflect the latest developments in the Youth Work Sector.

The Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles provides an ideal introduction to Youth Work but does not carry professional endorsement from ETS England. The remaining qualifications are endorsed by ETS England and allow successful candidates to work as either Assistant Youth Support Workers (Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice) or Youth Support Workers (Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Youth Work Practice)

Learners will need access to a real work environment in order to complete the placement hours and demonstrate practical competency in Youth Work.

Centres should ensure they meet the criteria for delivery and assessment personnel set out in the National Youth Agency Assessment Strategy and staff have appropriate qualifications as set out here.

A comprehensive guide to Assessment, produced by the National Youth Agency, to aid Centres with planning and delivering these qualifications, can be found here.

Follow the links below for more information about each qualification.

Qualification Approval

In order to deliver this qualification, centres must meet the requirements to deliver the qualification (which can be found in the Qualification Specification) and complete the Qualification Approval Application Form (QAF).
