Open College Network West Midlands, offer ESOL International and ESOL Skills for Life qualifications.
ESOL qualifications improve the lives and prospects of individuals living and working in the UK and overseas enabling learning and improvement to everyday life e.g. work and socialisation. They support your learners' ambitions to progress into further study e.g. higher education and employment in their own or other countries. Also, they enable learners who are not native speakers to improve their understanding and the use of spoken and written English, so they improve their ability to communicate, function and develop in an English-speaking environment.

Key Aspects of our ESOL qualifications:

Funding note:
The ESFA will fully fund ESOL Skills for Life learning aims delivered in the classroom up to and including Level 2 for eligible learners aged 19 and over who are unemployed. Learners are currently classed as unemployed by the ESFA if:
  • They receive Job Seekers Allowance
  • They receive Employment and Support Allowance
  • They receive Universal Credit, earn below an earning threshold and are identified by Job Centre Plus as being one of the following groups: All Work- related Requirements, Work Preparation or the Work focused Interview Group.
All other classroom-based adult ESOL Skills for Life learning is co-funded, with the ESFA paying half of the future costs.

ESOL Skills for Life are the only qualifications eligible for funding under the Adult Education Budget.
