Teaching in the Supplementary Education Sector

We are pleased to announce that the Level 2 Award in Supplementary Schools and other Out-of-School Settings qualification is now available for registrations. This qualification has been developed with the support of the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE), for those wishing to further develop their knowledge of supplementary education and teaching skills. The qualification is also suitable for learners who want to develop and enhance personal and social skills through a broad learning experience, across a personalised programme of study.
 
This qualification can be used to prepare learners to enter employment in the supplementary education schools and other out-of-school settings (OOSS). It can be used to support learners in an education setting and help them to progress to a higher level of study within this subject area. This level 2 qualification is particularly suitable for those who wish to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Supplementary Education Sector.

The following qualification will close for registrations on 31/08/2019. Learners will still have until 31/08/2020 to certificate.
  • Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Supplementary Education Sector - 601/5835/9

This qualification is designed for those wishing to teach in, or further develop their knowledge of, supplementary education. It will give learners the necessary skills and knowledge to teach children and young people in supplementary schools.

This qualification can be used to prepare learners to enter employment in supplementary education or other forms of employment. It can also be used to support learners in an educational setting or help them progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding.

The minimum age for access to this qualification is 18 years and Learners will need to hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
