Policing

The following qualification will close for registrations on 31/01/2020. Learners will still have until 31/08/2019 to certificate.

  • Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Diploma in Policing - 601/8396/2

This qualification has been designed for probationary police officers to complete during their first two years of duty.

Due to the continuously changing environment that our modern day police forces work in, this new Level 3 Diploma in Policing has been developed alongside the College of Policing and the Sector Skills Council, Skills for Justice.

Its aim is to develop the skills and working practices required by probationary officers in order for them to be able to carry out their duties in accordance with the National Occupational Standards. 

This qualification can be used flexibly to meet learner needs. Depending on the context of the learning and the needs of each individual learner, the qualification can:

  • support a role in the workplace;
  • encourage engagement in learning.

This qualification has been designed to enable learners to, but not be limited to:

  • manage conflict situations in policing;
  • conduct police searches;
  • interview victims and witnesses in relation to priority and volume investigations;
  • handle information and intelligence that can support law enforcement.

This qualification must be assessed in line with the College of Policing Strategic Governance of National Policing Qualifications in England and Wales 2015 which can be found by following the link below.
