Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

The Open College Network West Midlands Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment provides a foundation in health and safety for individuals working or intending to work in the construction industry.
 
The qualification covers: improving health and safety at work, safe operation of equipment, risk assessment, working at height and manual handling.
 
The Award has one mandatory unit that is based on based on the National Occupational Standard COSVR641 (Conform to General Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare).
 
The minimum age for access to this qualification is 16 years.
 
This qualification can also be used to support applications for some types of CSCS card. To obtain a card, learners will still need to take a CITB Health, Safety and Environmental test.
