About this qualification
Learners will undertake units in Digital Photography and Pet Photography and learn to apply these skills to take professional quality photographs of companion animals.
Objectives of the qualification
This qualification has been designed to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to work in pet photography. By providing learning in general digital photographic techniques and pet photography, this qualification provides routes into employment, self-employment or further learning in this area.

By completing this qualification this gives learners the opportunities to move into employment or self-employment in pet photography and related areas. Learners may also progress to further qualifications in related subjects at the same or higher levels, including the Level 3 Award in Wildlife Photography.

To be awarded the Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Award in Practical Photography, learners must achieve:
- 5 credits from the mandatory units
Portfolio of evidence.
Tutors:
To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:
- A photography qualification at Level 4 or above and have demonstrable professional experience.
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):
Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:
- Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in photography.
- Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
