Access to HE Centres

Information for Recognised Centres

  • Access to HE Diploma details

Full details of our Access to HE Diplomas, including rules of combination and unit specifications are available to view here.

  • What does Access to HE involve?

Learners are required to achieve a total of 60 credits in order to be awarded an Access to HE Diploma. 45 of the 60 credits come from Level 3 units which are graded as pass, merit or distinction. In this way HE providers can use a learner’s grade profile to establish particular strengths.

We have ready-made off the shelf Diplomas that can simply be selected and used immediately. As one of our Centres offering the Access to HE Diploma, you will also have the opportunity to discuss the development of a new Diplomas to suit your Centre and Learner's needs.

  • Advanced Learner Loans

All our Access to HE Diplomas are approved for public funding via the Advanced Learning Loan now from 19 years +. This means that your learners can use the loan to cover the cost of the tuition fees for the course.

The good news is that if a learner progresses to to Higher Education and completes a degree course, their loan for study on the Access to HE Diploma will be written off. Otherwise the loan is paid back when the learner completes their Access to HE Diploma and earns more than £27,295 a year, at a rate of 9% of any income earned over this amount.

  • Participation in our Access Validating Agency Events

We hold a range of events throughout the year and regularly distribute our Access to HE Newsletter to all our centres with important updates about our provision, support and important dates for your diary. In particular, Access Co-ordinators are reminded that attendance at our Coordinator Forum meetings is essential for keeping up to date with the latest developments regarding Access to HE.
