Thursday, 22 April 2021

Nominations Extended to Friday 7th May 2021!

We are pleased to invite you to nominate your learners for our Open College Network West Midlands Online Learner Celebration Event which will take place 17th June 2021.

With such a challenging time had by all, we would be delighted to celebrate your learner success during this morning session which will take place between 10am and 12 noon.

We will make up to 10 awards of £25 along with recognition certificates.

Nominations can be made by our Special Schools/Foundation Learning/Alternative Education providers delivering Open College Network West Midlands units and/or qualifications. This is done by completing the Nomination Form and submitting it to Open College Network West Midlands by Friday 7th May 2021. We will advise of those learners selected in May 2021.

Learners must be currently registered on an Open College Network West Midlands course.

We appreciate that all of your learners are unique and what a difficult time it has been during the pandemic. We also recognise the tremendous effort and contribution learners make to their learning; however, we are inviting nominations for learners falling within the following category:

Learner Award for Commitment to Study

Learners in this category will have shown an outstanding commitment to study. This could be by overcoming significant barriers to study, or by having an inspirational learning journey. Nominated learners may have shown evidence of extra effort above and beyond that which would normally be required of a learner.

Nominating Learners for the Commitment to Study Award

The Centre should provide a supporting statement which gives an indication of the types of barriers that the learner has overcome. It would also be helpful to identify any particular skills that the learner has displayed in pursuing their studies.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Evidence of improvement and development of the learner in the widest sense of achievement.
  2. Whilst some personal obstacles or issues may only be alluded to indirectly, respecting individual confidentiality, the extent to which the nominee has overcome barriers to succeed on the course.

How to nominate

Nominations are now open. You can nominate a maximum of two learners. Each nomination must be on a separate nomination form. All the nominees must be notified of their nomination. They should also be informed that we may use their learning stories in our marketing publications should consent be given.

Please take part

This is an excellent opportunity to reward those learners who are outstanding and committed to their future progress. It is also a good chance to have a celebration in what has been the most challenging year. Please collaborate with your learners to complete nomination forms and submit them to: by Friday 7th May 2021.
