Our successful Access to HE Learner – Emma Byrne

Wednesday, 27 March 2019
Emma studied her Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health) at Halesowen College. In this case study, she talks about her experience and the advantages of studying an Access to HE Diploma.
"I feel that the Access to Higher Education Diploma has helped me prepare for future studies at university by providing an insight into what will be expected of me as a Higher Education student.  Through the help provided by those who have taught me and the peers I have studied with, I have been able to think about what university life will be like and has helped me to realise how important it is to organise my workload and to be strict with my plans".
"The course has certainly helped me to change the way that I study and has helped me to learn to adapt myself to different needs of the course and the different teaching styles experienced".
Emma successfully completed her Diploma and was one of the AVA’s Learner Award Winners for 2018, being recognised for her outstanding commitment to study.   Emma will be progressing onto University to study a BSc (Hons) in Children’s Nursing.  In the future, Emma aims to progress in her chosen career and achieve her dream of becoming a neonatal nurse.  Open College Network West Midlands congratulates Emma on her success and wishes her the very best for the future.
