Coming Soon... Our New Level 1 Award in Awareness of Prevent Duty

Thursday, 9 August 2018
We are delighted to announce our new Level 1 Award in Awareness of Prevent Duty to be launched in September 2018.
This qualification has been developed in conjunction with our Recognised Centre, Coventry College. The qualification has been specifically designed to fit within FE Colleges Tutorial programmes and provides learners with an understanding of the Prevent Duty and what it means to them and their teaching staff.
Developed in line with the Governments counter terrorism strategy, it aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
Please see the following link for a full overview on what this qualification means and how you can deliver it within your centre: Working with Gangs & Youth Violence.
In a wider context, the development of our new qualification builds on our existing Level 3 qualifications  in  Working with Gangs and Youth Violence. We feel that there is a real need to educate those working with young people about the dangers of gang culture and the potential exit routes for those already involved in gangs.

The wider community interest into these serious issues has been demonstrated by the uptake onto our free information events on these qualifications. Our event on the 11th July sold out within a matter of days. Anyone interested in learning more about our offer can contact us directly for further information.
As part of our research and active networking on these topics, we have been introduced to Connectfutures who are a Birmingham based Social Enterprise bringing people together to build trust and collaboration between communities and organisations around inclusion, extremism, exploitation and community engagement. Our Chief Executive, Christine Assheton, met with Zubeda Limbada, co-founder of Connectfutures, who provide training and advice on the topics of Prevent and extremism for Schools, Colleges and Public Sector organisations.
