Access to HE Learner Awards Ceremony!

Thursday, 28 June 2018
On 13th June, we celebrated our annual Access to HE Learner Awards Ceremony at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park.  Learners had been nominated by their tutors for their Outstanding Academic Achievement or Outstanding Commitment to Study.  All nominations received were of a high calibre but following judging we were able to announce 14 winners.  Each winner was invited to attend the ceremony with their family and nominated tutor to receive their award.
Guests were warmly welcomed by Chris Assheton, our Chief Executive Officer before listening to the inspirational talk from our guest speaker, David Cain.  David had completed an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine and Health Care Professions) in 2013 and had now just completed his five year medical degree at University of Leicester.  David shared with the guests his journey through education, how the Access to Higher Education Diploma had prepared him for university and what his future are as a doctor.  The award winners were then each presented with their certificate by Chris and David as well as £500 to assist with their further studies.

Following the ceremony, all guests and attendees enjoyed a buffet lunch and photo opportunities.  We extend our thanks to the Centres who nominated their learners, our guest speaker David Cain and to the University of Wolverhampton Science Park for their hospitality. Plans for next year’s ceremony are already in progress!
