Access to HE – Extraordinary Regulatory Framework (ERF) Arrangements 2020-21

Now more than ever we are here to support you as you continue to deliver our Access to HE Diplomas to thousands of learners across the country.

Since September 2020, a number of documents and emails have been released or sent to update and advice regarding the Extraordinary Regulatory Framework (ERF) arrangements for the award and assessment of the Access to HE Diploma for 2020-2021. This page brings together all the information in one place for you to locate and access easily.

Adaptations may be necessary to mode of delivery, assessment methodology and or units delivered. It is a QAA requirement that AVAs are informed of any adaptations relating to the pandemic. Therefore, please use the adaptation record to advise the AVA of any adaptations relating to the pandemic, whether being made now or earlier in the course.

If you have previously advised the AVA of adaptations and need to advise further, please add to the record you have already started. The three types of adaptation and three different rationales are already listed on the template for you to select the ones relevant to your adaptation. Please select Yes from the drop down menu. Once completed, please return to accesstohe@opencollnet.org.uk as a matter of urgency. Once reviewed by the AVA, these will be returned for your keeping and to add to should further adaptations be required.

Drop in support clinics will be held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 24th February – 13.15-14.00
  • Thursday 4th March – 16.00-16.45
  • Tuesday 9th March – 13.15-14.00
  • Monday 15th March – 16.00-16.45
  • Tuesday 23rd March – 12.00-12.45

(Zoom Links have been sent or will be sent in due course)

If you need any help or support we are only a phone call, email or video call away. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help you in any way.

Kind regards

Pam Stanway and Laura Walker

30.9.20:

Arrangements for the award and assessment of the Access to HE Diploma 2021 have now been published by QAA.

The publication explains how all AVAs will ensure that quality, standards and student outcomes will be maintained for Diplomas awarded in 2020-21. This will not include the estimation of grades, therefore the QAA grading scheme will apply. Centres will be able to adapt their delivery, assessments and/or change units delivered in order to support teaching and learning, mitigate any possible effects of previous or future disruptions and safeguard against any future disruptions relating to the pandemic. Any such adaptations will need to be reported to the AVA with a rationale.

All Providers have been sent a copy of the guidance, which can also be accessed here.

Centres will also need to ensure that grading data information i.e. the assessment grade profiles as well as the overall unit grade profile and grade is collated, kept up to date and stored so that it is accessible and made available to the AVA upon our request. Further information relating to this will follow shortly.

To support our Centres, clinics via Zoom will be available on the following dates and times:

  • Monday 5th October 2020 - 12.00-12.45 and 16.00-16.45
  • Wednesday 7th October 2020 - 12.00-12.45 and 16.00-16.45

Centres may choose to attend one of the above clinics to ask any questions or seek clarification.

Links for each Zoom meeting will be available later this week.

Alternatively, please contact Pam Stanway with any questions at p.stanway@opencollnet.org.uk
