Open College Network West Midlands Centres: Lifetime learning for all

Telematic and Biomedical Services GB

Ian Crummy, Training Manager at TBS GB describes his experience of working in partnership with Open College Network West Midlands to develop highly specialised qualifications for the medical technologies industry.

“With the professional, friendly support and advice offered, we were able to see the successful transition from concept, to accreditation for the delivery of biomedical engineering courses.”

Ian Crummey MSc, IEng.  Training Manager TBS GB

When TBS GB decided to gain formal accreditation to its training facility in Warrington,  I contacted  Open College Network West Midlands as they had a good reputation for supporting businesses wanting to develop their own internal training programmes.   With Open College Network West Midlands continued support and expertise we were able to set up a new programme and offer an Ofqual approved regulated qualification very quickly and hassle free.  Through the subsequent training delivered by TBS GB, the first three successful students were awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Medical Equipment Technologies this year at an informal ceremony at the Warrington training facility.  The attached image shows the candidates and Open College Network West Midlands Business Development Manager, Sue Burton.

Following the success of this initiative our future plans involve working more closely with our dedicated Business Development Manager from Open College Network West Midlands to develop more accredited courses and a new Diploma level qualification.

We have found the Open College Network West Midlands staff to be always very professional, friendly and willing to support our needs.
