Meet the Access Team

 
Pam Stanway – Access Adviser
 
Pam joined the team at Open College Network West Midlands as the AVA’s Access Advisor in September 2015 after a period of 15 years teaching in the FE and HE sector.  In her role, Pam provides specialist advice and guidance to Centres delivering the Access to HE Diplomas and leads on the training sessions concerned with assessment and internal moderation.   Pam also supports the Head of Access and Quality in ensuring all procedures and systems meet QAA’s regulatory requirements.
 
Pam’s prior experience within education included teaching and managing Access to Higher Education Diplomas, as well as Foundation Degree programmes in both Psychology and Offender Management.  Outside of work Pam enjoys spending time with her family, reading and following a range of sports including football and darts.
 
 

 
Karl Stringer – Head of Access and Quality

Karl has worked for Open College Network West Midlands since August 2010, starting initially as Quality Manager before taking on the role of Head of Access and Quality in September 2014.  Karl has company-wide responsibility for External Quality Assurance of Open College Network West Midlands’ Access and RQF qualifications and reports directly to Board Committees on all Access and Compliance matters.   Karl is also responsible for the tracking of company processes against the requirements of our regulators (Ofqual, QAA and Qualifications Wales).
 
Prior to joining Open College Network West Midlands, Karl was a Quality Assurance Officer within the Higher Education sector.  Outside of work Karl enjoys spending time with his wife and son and undertaking various fitness challenges – Karl is currently training for Tough Mudder, a 12-mile long assault course (Karl is raising money for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis – you can sponsor him here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Steph-Karl-Mudder)
